Comparison Essay
Almost always someone will have to deal with pain and gilt at some time in their life. Just like Jonas in the book “The Giver” by Lois Lowry and also Kesha in her song ” Praying”. In both places they show that everyone will feel pain in their lives nonmatter what. But they also show that they is a way to get over that pain and gilt, by forgiving. That shows the book The Giver is somewhat similar to the Song praying.
One common theme in The giver and praying is that even if your deal with pain in your life you should to learn to forgive and forget. I know this because in The Giver Jonas learns about pain, suffering and war. But he has to push through it because he has to learn all these thing for the community. In the song Praying Kesha has to deal with pain and in an abusive relationship. I know this because in the song she said “Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell.” But in both instances they both learn to forgive the people who betrayed them. One other time you can see this happening in is the song when she says” I had to learn how to fight for myself.”
Although these things are very similar in some way they are still very different. One reason why they are different is because although they still go through pain they go through it in different ways. Like in The Giver Jonas has to literally learn what pain is because he has never felt it before. But in the song Praying kesha has to go through pain in a different way, by abuse and heart break. That is the reason why the book The Giver and the song Praying is different.
In both ” The Giver” and the song Praying they show the importance of dealing with pain. But they also show that is very important to forgive and forget. How I know this is that in both places they support the theme because in The Giver you can see Jonas go through a lot of pain but still not give up. In the song Praying you can also see that kesha goes through a lot of pain. So overall I think the theme that these pieces are trying to show is that even if your go through a lot of pain you can still learn to forgive and forget.
